ELCA is hiring a Junior Java Engineer to develop and maintain production-ready software for client projects using agile methodologies. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, applying Java and related technologies such as Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Git, and Maven, and using AI-assisted development tools including Claude Code and GitHub Copilot. It is an early-career position requiring a completed computer science or related degree, initial software development experience, German and English fluency, and an interest in CI/CD, Docker, cloud platforms, and agile practices. The role is based at customer sites or ELCA locations in Zurich or Bern, with an opportunity to work from home.
