IIASA is hiring a Junior/Research Software Engineer to support the development, operation, quality assurance, and modernization of scientific software and data infrastructure for the GAINS integrated assessment modelling system. The role involves building and maintaining modelling applications, databases, SQL and data-processing workflows, automated quality checks, documentation, and AI-assisted analytical tools, while collaborating with researchers, domain experts, and software engineers. The position is based at IIASA in Laxenburg, Austria, with home-office options, and offers a one-year full-time fixed-term contract with possible extension or part-time arrangements.
