TuxCare is hiring a fully remote Kernel Developer for the KernelCare Extended Lifecycle Support team. The role focuses on investigating upstream Linux kernel security and bug fixes, backporting patches to older RPM- and Debian-based distributions, resolving version conflicts, building reproducible kernel packages, validating patches through testing and regression analysis, and improving workflows with Python, Go, or Shell. Candidates need strong C and Linux debugging skills, practical kernel development or backporting experience, Git and GNU build tool proficiency, kernel or distribution package build experience, automation skills, familiarity with agentic or AI-assisted development, and intermediate-or-higher English. Preferred experience includes kernel packaging, CVE analysis, Docker, QEMU, Jenkins, kernel testing, core dumps, and regressions.
