The role involves product decisions, designing and developing backend functionality, collaborating with other teams, and improving the performance, scalability, quality, and reliability of payment services. The technology stack includes Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Kafka, AWS or GCP, and automated deployments, with the engineer expected to grow from feature-level work toward owning a dedicated service or domain.
