Description
The Phlebotomy Technician collects blood specimens, receives, sorts, accesses, and processes specimens for laboratory testing, enters patient and test information, prepares specimens for transport, distributes results, maintains records and a safe work area, and supports laboratory workflow. The role requires a Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) or Certified Phlebotomy Technician II (CPTII) license, Basic Life Support certification, and in California also a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) license; high school education or GED is required in California, while an associate or technical degree and acute-care phlebotomy experience are preferred.
