Description

OLIX is hiring a Laser Architect to lead the architectural direction of its III-V laser devices and integrate them across epitaxy, device architecture, packaging, optics, electronics, systems, and manufacturing. The role involves shaping a multi-year laser roadmap, making high-stakes technical trade-offs, mentoring engineers, representing OLIX externally, and connecting technical decisions to business objectives. Candidates need 15+ years of semiconductor laser development experience, a relevant PhD, and expertise in III-V materials, epitaxy, device physics, high-speed modulation, and reliability.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: PhD in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline
Required Previous Experiences: 15+ years of semiconductor laser development with demonstrated III-V device expertise
Experience shaping architecture and long-term technical direction for a laser or photonics domain
Deep expertise in III-V materials, epitaxy, device physics, high-speed modulation, and reliability
Experience bringing cross-functional stakeholders together around a long-term technical vision
Experience developing shared design principles, standards, and roadmaps
External engagement through publications, patents, standards bodies, or industry involvement
Experience mentoring engineers at all levels
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with co-packaged or co-designed optics at rack scale
Track record founding or scaling a laser or photonics device line
Deep knowledge of datacom reliability standards
Experience co-designing lasers with custom driver ASICs
Visible industry leadership through talks, committees, or standards work
