Description

Lyte is hiring a Laser Engineer to develop and validate III-V semiconductor lasers, amplifiers, and heterogeneously integrated silicon photonic subsystems. The role owns R&D characterization, test development, troubleshooting, simulations, design documentation, and the transition of laser components to high-volume manufacturing, while collaborating with silicon photonics, OSAT, and foundry partners. Candidates need a master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field, 3–5 years of industry experience in III-V laser development, and expertise in optical characterization, photonic systems, Python or C/C++/MATLAB, and semiconductor physics.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Master's or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 3–5 years of industry experience in III-V laser development or a related area
Demonstrated experience in III-V laser development
Experience with optical system modeling of complex photonic components
Experience developing software in Python, C, C++, or MATLAB
Preferred Qualifications: Deep understanding of high-power semiconductor lasers and amplifiers in optical systems
Experience transferring new products from R&D to operations teams
Experience working with internal customers and external foundry or OSAT vendors
Background in photonic sensing, coherent communications, or lidar
Familiarity with multi-chip packages, silicon photonics, and hybrid or heterogeneous integration of III-V components
Ability to operate effectively in a startup environment with ambiguity, speed, and high ownership
Additional experience with high-power semiconductor lasers and low-linewidth laser systems
