Description

Banyan Software is hiring a Lead AI Architect to design, build, and operate a centralized data and AI platform for its internal functional teams. The role owns the AWS data lake, reference architecture, AI experimentation layer, security and privacy guardrails, platform reliability, and a small platform team. It is a player-coach position starting hands-on and evolving into team leadership, with a hybrid Toronto schedule of three days per week in the office. The role requires 10+ years of production data and AI platform experience, deep AWS expertise, strong Python and SQL, and a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years building data and AI platforms in production at meaningful scale
Player-coach experience leading small teams and mentoring engineers
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in private-equity-backed or holding-company environments with multiple business units and inconsistent source systems
Experience designing AI guardrails for non-public, regulated, or competitively sensitive data
Experience treating internal platforms as products with named users, SLAs, and adoption strategies
Experience with Snowflake or Databricks
Experience as the first or early platform hire at a growth-stage company
Master's degree
