Description

Capital One India is hiring a Lead AI Engineer in Bangalore to lead production machine learning and natural language processing solutions, including LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, embedding models, and transformer-based systems. The role owns productionization, monitoring, reliability, and MLOps strategy, and requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering plus extensive experience in machine learning, AI systems, deep learning, and large language models. A master's degree and additional AI research and agentic-systems experience are preferred; visa sponsorship is not available.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Required Previous Experiences: At least 8 years of experience in traditional machine learning, natural language processing, model selection, and the machine learning experimentation lifecycle
At least 5 years of experience engineering and deploying production machine learning and AI systems
At least 3 years of experience developing deep learning models and agentic workflows with PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, and LangGraph
At least 3 years of experience developing, fine-tuning, and serving embedding models
At least 2 years of experience developing large language model applications
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
3+ years of experience applying statistics, probability theory, experimental design, hypothesis testing, A/B testing, and causal inference
3+ years of experience in agentic search and multi-step LLM-driven query planning
2+ years of experience architecting and optimizing retrieval pipelines with bi-encoders, cross-encoders, and hybrid search
2+ years of experience fine-tuning models with LoRA, QLoRA, and PEFT
1+ years of experience designing AI evaluation frameworks with RAGAS, DeepEval, and custom metrics
1+ years of experience with transformer architectures including BERT, GPT, Llama, and Mistral
1+ years of experience designing and orchestrating multi-agent frameworks and stateful agentic memory architectures
