Appian is hiring a Lead Applied AI Engineer to build and operate production AI systems that reason about enterprise applications. The role covers agents and orchestration, specification extraction, application intelligence and retrieval, LLM evaluation, AI-assisted software development, performance and reliability engineering, and mentoring junior engineers. It is based in McLean, Virginia, with an expectation of five days per week in the office, and requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field plus 7+ years of relevant software development experience.
