BigFuture is hiring a remote Lead Backend Engineer to lead hands-on backend development and engineering leadership for student-facing products. The role focuses on redesigning legacy Java applications into modern AWS-based React and Node applications, implementing scalable and secure software, participating in Agile ceremonies, mentoring peers, resolving production issues, and serving as a subject matter expert on Generative AI applications and infrastructure. Candidates need 7+ years of experience building scalable web applications in AWS-hosted environments, 3+ years with Node and TypeScript, and experience with databases, observability, asynchronous messaging, AWS services, and Generative AI.
