The Lead Backend Engineer will lead and mentor a backend engineering team while writing production PHP and Laravel code, owning architecture and quality, and delivering reliable, scalable systems. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, code review, system design, sprint planning, hiring, and cross-functional delivery. Candidates need at least five years of backend development experience, including PHP and Laravel, plus two years leading or mentoring engineers, a degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience, and a history of shipping production systems at scale.
