Description
Gaston County Schools is hiring a Lead Bus Driver to safely transport students between home and school and on field trips, maintain student discipline and bus safety, inspect and clean the assigned bus, report incidents and mechanical issues, and perform lead transportation clerical and coordination duties. The role assists with payroll, route and driver forms, reports, safety drills, substitute-driver coordination, bus repairs, driver recruitment, equipment inspections, route knowledge, and certification compliance. It requires a valid driver’s license, at least six months of driving experience, eligibility for a North Carolina or South Carolina CDL Class B or C with P and S endorsements, a good driving record, safety awareness, basic recordkeeping and calculation skills, and the physical ability to operate and evacuate a school bus. The position is non-exempt and pays at least $18.08 per hour, adjusted for experience.
