The Facilities Maintenance Lead ( FML ) assists the Maintenance Manager, and coordinates maintenance activities during the absence of the MS. Activities may include diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining food processing and packaging equipment, and also buildings, offices, and grounds in a USDA production environment. The FML works with various managers to resolve facility-related problems, promotes safety, trains employees on equipment operation and safe practices, monitors contractor activities, schedules repairs, prioritizes tasks, ensures timely completion of maintenance, and maintains a safe and clean environment. This role involves setting up, troubleshooting, and repairing high-speed wrapping and checking equipment, dismantling and reassembling machinery, testing and repairing electrical systems, interpreting control schematics, minor PLC programming, understanding safety protocols, communicating effectively, providing rapid responses to equipment failures, ensuring readiness before production, complying with city and fire regulations, assisting in training, fabricating parts, and performing other assigned duties.
