VERSANT is hiring a Lead ML/AI Engineer to set the technical vision and architect end-to-end machine learning and artificial intelligence systems across computer vision, large language models, and retrieval-based architectures. The role leads model selection, evaluation, monitoring, deployment, and integration into newsroom and product workflows, develops reusable AI platforms and services, partners with product, engineering, editorial, and executive stakeholders, and mentors engineers. Candidates need 8–12+ years of experience in machine learning, applied AI, and distributed systems, with production experience, strong Python and software engineering skills, and expertise in large language models, retrieval systems, and generative AI.
