Description
The MEC Department Head will lead high-energy-density science at the Linac Coherent Light Source, defining the department's scientific strategy, user program, and facility development for LCLS-II-HE and related fusion-energy research. The role reports to the SRD Division Director, leads staff scientists and broader research communities, supports experiment planning and instrument development, manages research funding, and develops staff and career pathways. Applicants need a Ph.D. in Physics, Plasma Physics, or a related field, at least eight years of relevant experience, a record of internationally acknowledged research achievements, and demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
