Backblaze is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to develop host-managed SMR support for its B2 Object Storage and Computer Backup platform. The role leads technical design, drives implementation of large features, and shapes coding methodologies while working on throughput, cost, IO performance, and large-scale systems. Candidates need 10+ years of object-oriented backend development experience, SMR storage experience, IO benchmarking expertise, and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools. The position offers healthcare, dental and vision coverage, competitive compensation, RSUs, and other benefits, with base pay of $205,000–$230,000 outside the Bay Area and $245,000–$265,000 in the Bay Area.
