Description

Mastercard is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to lead a team delivering the next generation of its settlement platform. The role owns software design and architecture, backend delivery, testing, performance engineering, secure coding, incident management, code review, and technical leadership across distributed systems. It requires advanced Java and Spring Boot microservices experience, distributed-systems expertise, cloud and DevOps knowledge, and experience with observability, CI/CD, databases, and application security. The position is based in O'Fallon, Missouri, with a base salary of $140,000–$231,000 USD and benefits for full-time and certain part-time employees.

Required Previous Experiences: Coaching teams on full-stack development and end-to-end service ownership
Leading advanced operational and failure testing practices, including chaos engineering
Agile and modern SDLC experience, including Scrum, Kanban, CI/CD, DevOps, and Quality Engineering
Designing and developing full-stack solutions for large-scale enterprise systems
Building Java microservices with Spring Boot
Working with Oracle/SQL databases
Software development, system design, data structures, algorithms, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems
Technical design aligned with non-functional requirements, solution architecture, and functional design
Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies
