Description

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is hiring a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and end-to-end delivery of its next-generation Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and supporting infrastructure. The role owns software architecture, full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, data and system integration, security, AI agent engineering, CI/CD, production support, reliability, and documentation, while mentoring mid-level engineers and coordinating with engineering leadership and business stakeholders. It is remote-first with approximately 30% travel to project sites, field locations, and company or client offices, and requires a technical background in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience, including technical leadership or end-to-end ownership of a production system.
Experience owning CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and production operations or on-call.
Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud.
Highway, infrastructure, utilities, or field-operations domain experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Deep expertise in cloud-native backend and data engineering, including Python, PostgreSQL, API design, and distributed systems.
Ability to design and operate secure, reliable systems with authentication, authorization, encryption, auditability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Fluent use of AI coding agents to accelerate production work, with judgment in reviewing and verifying AI-generated output.
Experience with LLM or agent platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini.
Strong communication, mentoring, and leadership abilities.
