Description

New York City Transit is hiring a full-time Light Maintainer to install, inspect, test, alter, maintain, and repair lighting and other electrical systems in subway tunnels, elevated structures, bus depots, car yards, and other transit facilities. The role may require night, weekend, Saturday, Sunday, and holiday work, and involves working near live high-voltage equipment, outdoors, elevated structures, and heavy equipment. Candidates must meet electrical apprenticeship or experience requirements, pass a civil service exam and appointment process, obtain a New York driver license and Class B CDL, and pass drug and medical screening. The current minimum salary is $37.16 per hour, increasing to $43.72 per hour in the sixth year of service.
