KACE is hiring a part-time, as-needed Linguist - (Mandarin) in San Diego to perform real-time and recorded Mandarin-to-English transcription and translation for sensitive law enforcement work. The role produces court-ready documents, identifies slang and coded language, maintains slang and voice libraries, supports live monitoring, and uses government-provided communications tools. It pays $40 per hour, requires travel to client sites, and may involve day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of translation experience, Mandarin and English language proficiency, Microsoft Office skills, and the ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust eligibility.
