Description
The Locomotive Engineer safely operates a diesel-electric locomotive and train, interprets train orders, signals, and railroad regulations, and transports freight. Responsibilities include pre- and post-run locomotive inspections, fuel and supply checks, brake and coupler adjustments, repairs to railcar equipment, communication with train crew, obstruction reporting, and accident or delay reporting. The role requires a Locomotive Engineer certificate issued under 49 CFR Part 240, FRA knowledge, required safety training, strong communication and manual dexterity, and the ability to pass hearing and vision tests.
