Description

Sutter Health seeks a leader for its artificial intelligence governance program. The role establishes the AI governance operating model, policies, standards, and priorities; leads AI governance analysts; performs complex use-case reviews; coordinates clinical, technical, legal, privacy, security, compliance, and operational stakeholders; and partners with data science and applied AI teams across the model lifecycle. The position requires healthcare or AI/ML governance experience, knowledge of AI risk and monitoring frameworks, strong facilitation and communication skills, and team leadership. It is a regular, exempt, hybrid full-time role with required in-office attendance, Monday through Friday, and an annual salary range of $156,332.80–$234,478.40, or $177,632.00–$266,448.00 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in health informatics, computer science, information management, public health, health administration, law, or a related field; equivalent experience accepted.
Required Previous Experiences: Five years of recent relevant experience.
Experience in healthcare data governance, AI/ML governance, model risk management, or regulatory compliance.
Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional governance, risk, or compliance programs.
Direct experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics programs.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with NIST AI RMF, CHAI Assurance Standards, and ISO/IEC 42001.
Knowledge of HIPAA, FDA SaMD guidance, ONC HTI-1, and emerging state AI regulations.
Experience with LLM-as-a-judge evaluation, automated output quality assessment, and agentic AI workflow monitoring.
Ability to design practical, auditable governance processes.
Ability to manage team capacity, prioritization, and delivery across a high-volume portfolio.
Strong facilitation, written communication, committee leadership, and executive communication.
