Description

Neros is hiring a senior leader to own autonomy evaluation, performance metrics, release criteria, regression and simulation infrastructure, data platforms, field testing, and integration for drone autonomy systems. The role will also hire, lead, and develop engineers across software infrastructure, data engineering, simulation, and physical testing. Candidates need 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineers, along with expertise in robotics, autonomous systems, Python and C++, large-scale sensor and log data, closed-loop simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing. The role offers a US base salary of $191,500–$268,000 plus competitive equity.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of engineering experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or defense autonomy, including 3+ years managing engineers
Direct experience leading evaluation, validation, metrics, or test infrastructure for a physical autonomous system
Experience defining autonomy or machine learning performance metrics and acceptance criteria and owning release gating decisions
Hands-on experience building automated regression and CI infrastructure for robotics or autonomy software in Python and C++
Experience with large-scale log and sensor data infrastructure, including ingest pipelines, sensor alignment, data cataloging, querying, and deterministic replay
Working knowledge of closed-loop simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing, including latency budgets and timing measurement on embedded compute
Experience managing engineers across multiple disciplines, including at least one outside the candidate's technical background
Preferred Qualifications: Experience building evaluation, simulation, or data infrastructure from the ground up at an autonomous vehicle, drone, or robotics company
Experience with machine learning data pipelines, dataset versioning, labeling, and large-scale automated model evaluation
Experience supporting or leading flight test and range operations
Background in guidance, navigation and control, multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, or electro-optical and infrared perception
