Affirm is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to set technical strategy for a team, own operations and on-call reliability, establish code and design standards, and develop engineering talent. The role requires 8+ years of experience building scalable backend systems with Python or Kotlin, distributed systems expertise with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes, consumer-facing React experience, and at least 2 years in Ad Tech or related platforms. The position is remote-first, with base pay of $230,000–$290,000 per year in California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut, and $204,000–$264,000 per year in other U.S. states.
