DelDOT is hiring a Master Mechanic for its Maintenance & Operations North District in Newark, Delaware. The role performs expert-level mechanical and machinist repair, maintenance, fabrication, welding, diagnostics, and equipment testing; it also provides advanced training to lower-level mechanics and supports equipment-replacement recommendations and budgeting. The position requires three years of experience in diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and calibrating light and heavy-duty engines and power trains, three years of gas and electric welding experience, three years of machining or milling experience, and staff-supervision knowledge or experience. A valid driver's license and CDL Class A or B are required, along with a criminal background check and pre-employment drug testing. The regular salary is $49,826 plus hazard-duty pay, with night, weekend, and holiday shifts required.
