Description

Booz Allen is hiring a Materials Science Engineer in Lorton, Virginia, for a hybrid role supporting defense clients on materials and science engineering projects. The position develops, characterizes, tests, and scales advanced materials; supports manufacturing processes; evaluates technical specifications and environmental impacts; and advises leadership on emerging technologies and market opportunities. Candidates need materials science or materials chemistry experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree with at least two years of materials engineering experience or a master’s degree with at least one year, and a Secret clearance. The projected annualized compensation is $69,400 to $158,000 USD.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering
Required Previous Experiences: At least 2 years of materials engineering experience
Experience with materials science engineering or materials chemistry
Experience with mechanical, thermal, and chemical compatibility materials testing
Knowledge of materials production, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with advanced materials, including metals, ceramics, composites, and polymers
Experience analyzing government specification documents, including Mil-Specs, Mil-Standards, Purchase Descriptions, and Commercial Item Descriptions
Experience identifying and recommending materials for extreme conditions and environments
Experience with in-product testing and testing process improvements
Knowledge of Agile project management, Lean Six Sigma, or Kanban
Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering
