Description
The Fire District Mechanic maintains, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on a diverse fleet of fire apparatus, ambulances, command vehicles, tenders, brush trucks, and heavy equipment. The role includes diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic failures; developing maintenance schedules; managing parts and supply inventories; responding to field call-backs; supporting equipment acceptance and decommissioning; and training staff. The position requires vehicle-repair education or equivalent experience, a Nevada driver’s license, and a Class B CDL within six months of employment, and involves shop and field work throughout Elko County.
