Description
The Diesel Mechanic inspects, services, maintains, and repairs diesel-electric locomotives and related equipment in a railroad shop environment. The role includes troubleshooting mechanical and air-system issues, performing car-body repairs, welding, metal fabrication, operating heavy tools and equipment, maintaining FRA-compliant records, and interpreting blueprints and repair instructions. It is a full-time, physically demanding position with varying 24/7 schedules, outdoor work, and potential travel; applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and be at least 18 years old.
