The Mechanic I fabricates, assembles, debugs, tests, and troubleshoots mechanical components for diesel systems. The role involves installing mechanical parts and sheet-metal assemblies, welding aluminum, carbon, and stainless steel with MIG and TIG processes, assembling and troubleshooting 12-volt electro-mechanical systems, and debugging electrical and pneumatic systems. Candidates need a high school diploma, 2–5 years of similar experience, commercial-trailer experience with pony motors, mechanical aptitude, teamwork, communication, and quality-focused work habits.
