Description

Antares is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer II to design and integrate the hardware of its Power Conversion System, including pressure boundaries, piping, rotating-machinery supports and alignment, thermal growth, interfaces, assembly, test-rig instrumentation, and high-temperature components. The role carries the mechanical arrangement and pressure budget through fabrication, assembly, testing, and design revision, and requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline plus at least two years of full-cycle design engineering experience.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline
Required Previous Experiences: 2+ years of full-cycle design engineering experience
Designing pressure-retaining or leak-tight fluid hardware and supporting pressure and leak verification
Releasing production-intent mechanical drawings and models for fabrication, including GD&T and tolerance stack-up
Designing hardware for elevated-temperature or high-stress service, including material selection
Working mechanical interfaces between multiple components integrated into a single assembly
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the Nuclear, Aerospace, Automotive, Power Generation, Motorsports, or Oil and Gas industries
Designing to pressure-boundary codes and standards and writing or executing pressure and leak test procedures
Compressible flow and flow network or pressure-drop modeling
Packaging or integrating rotating machinery, including alignment, supports, and machinery loads
High-temperature systems, thermal growth accommodation, expansion joints and bellows, and insulation design
Skid-mounted or modular plant packaging, system layout, and designing for maintenance access
Piping flexibility and stress analysis, and structural FEA of supports and anchors
High-temperature metals and advanced materials, including creep-limited design in stainless steels or nickel superalloys
Designing to transport and seismic load cases
Supporting test rig design, instrumentation and sensor placement, and using test data to drive design changes
Design engineering tools such as NX, ANSYS or Femap, and other product lifecycle software
Commissioning first-of-a-kind hardware and supporting bring-up and troubleshooting
Experience in a demanding, fast-paced development environment
