Description
SpaceX is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Starfall team, which is developing a high-capacity, high-cadence, low-cost re-entry capsule for rapid global cargo delivery. The role owns primary and secondary structures, mechanisms, and fluid systems; uses hand calculations, FEA, and CAD; leads design reviews and hardware qualifications; coordinates with suppliers, customers, and production or launch teams; and manages hardware delivery through inception, design, assembly, launch, and reuse. The position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, at least one year of CAD or FEA experience, and at least one year of hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly, or testing experience. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, NX/Teamcenter experience, commercial FEA or multiphysics simulation experience, analytical programming experience, and relevant clearance or willingness to obtain one. The role may require longer hours, weekends, travel for testing and launches, and Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg. Compensation is $100,000–$115,000 per year for Level I and $110,000–$135,000 per year for Level II, with medical, vision, dental, retirement, disability, life, paid leave, and other benefits.
