Description

SSOE is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC design for diverse building projects. The role involves detailed HVAC engineering design, load calculations compliant with ASHRAE standards, and application of International Mechanical Code, NFPA, and NEC. The engineer will utilize Revit for 3D HVAC system layouts, lead design reviews, and ensure compliance and risk mitigation throughout all design phases, from schematic to construction administration. This position also includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
Required Previous Experiences: Minimum of nine years’ professional mechanical engineering experience focusing on HVAC design for buildings within transportation, aviation, education (primary and university), corporate, healthcare, hospitality, and restaurant sectors.
Preferred Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of International Mechanical Code (IMC), NFPA standards for fire and life safety (e.g., NFPA 90A), National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements related to HVAC electrical systems, and ASHRAE standards including 90.1 (energy efficiency) and 62.1 (ventilation).
Proficiency in Revit BIM software for HVAC systems modeling, with demonstrated ability to produce and manage 3D design documentation in multi-discipline environments.
Proven experience performing load calculations and system selections validated via recognized engineering calculation methods including psychrometric charts and energy modeling correlations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently and professionally in English, both written and verbal, including technical correspondence, client interactions, and team collaboration.
Experience working within rigorous quality assurance workflows, including design reviews, coordination meetings, and construction administration.
Proven ability to mentor engineers and technical staff, fostering knowledge transfer and technical rigor within the team.
