Description
SLAC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development and operation of X-ray and optical experimental systems at the Linac Coherent Light Source. The role involves advancing instrument technologies, integrating and testing systems and devices, and leading design reviews and quality assurance. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and at least two years of relevant experience, along with CAD skills and a willingness to learn fabrication techniques; a master’s degree or PhD, UHV vacuum-system experience, and FEA or MATLAB experience are preferred.
