Portal Space Systems is hiring a Mechanisms Engineer to own the full lifecycle of mission-critical spacecraft mechanisms, from requirements and concept through design, manufacturing, integration, verification, qualification, and flight support. The role involves designing deploy, release, position, align, restrain, and separate systems; performing kinematic, dynamic, structural, and tolerance analyses; creating GD&T drawings and test documentation; supporting integration and mission operations; and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates need at least three years of experience designing mechanisms or complex mechanical systems for aerospace hardware, along with experience in launch and space environments and engineering analysis. Preferred qualifications include space-compatible tribology, simulation, FEA, CAD, supplier management, and reliability analysis.
