Description

The Media Relations Specialist reports to the Manager of Marketing and Communications and serves as the primary contact for media inquiries while developing messaging, media materials, spokesperson support, media events, media monitoring, and proactive media strategies for the Musqueam Indian Band. The role also supports crisis communications, maintains media archives, and contributes to media process improvements. It requires a degree or diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent education and experience, at least 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in media relations, public affairs, journalism, or corporate communications, strong written communication and interviewing skills, and willingness to learn hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓. The position is primarily office-based with evening or weekend work, on-call coverage, and access to group benefits and a pension plan.
