Description
Latch is hiring a Member of Technical Staff - Virology to lead safety benchmarking for frontier artificial intelligence in the Biosecurity group. The role involves designing approaches to assess potential misuse of AI agents for biological harm, evaluating safety guardrails, and building benchmarks across virology experiment design, protocol troubleshooting, viral genome and phenotypic data interpretation, bioinformatics and biological design tools, experimental workflow planning, feasibility assessment, and dual-use guidance evaluation. The position requires a PhD in virology or a closely related field, substantial wet-lab virology experience, BSL-3 or high-containment BSL-2 laboratory experience, experience with large language models or biological foundation models, and proficiency in Python and/or R. It is a full-time, in-person role in San Francisco with a stated base salary of $180,000 or more.
