Exponent is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer for their Metallurgical and Corrosion Engineering Practice in Bowie, MD. The successful candidate will join a team conducting materials, metallurgical, and mechanical failure investigations, field inspections, and performing materials characterization and specialized testing. This role involves hands-on failure analysis, planning and executing laboratory tests, conducting field inspections, generating written work products like PowerPoint presentations and technical reports, and effectively presenting results to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering, along with a familiarity with Mechanical Engineering, and a strong background in materials characterization techniques such as metallography, SEM, EDS, and X-ray radiography/diffraction. They should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, effective time and budget management, and a willingness to collaborate within project teams.
