Description
AWE is hiring an experienced Metrologist for its Target Fabrication Science Team in RG7 4PR, between Reading and Basingstoke. The role involves dimensional inspection of micron-scale components and millimetre-scale targets using coordinate measurement machines, interferometry, and optical microscopy; developing, validating, and verifying test methods; interpreting data; writing technical reports; calibrating and maintaining equipment; and managing laboratory activities. The position requires an NVQ level 6 in Metrology or a Foundation Degree with direct work experience, knowledge of metrology processes and inspection equipment, and the ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance. It is fully onsite with a 9-day working fortnight, part-time and varied-hour arrangements where possible, and a package of £38,000–£42,000 per annum plus a role-specific allowance.
