Etched is hiring a Research Lead to set the research agenda for self-improving agents and develop systems that reliably complete complex, long-running engineering tasks. The role combines research leadership with hands-on engineering, including agent experimentation, memory and context management, tool use, planning, evaluation, custom model training with SFT and RL, and scalable production systems. The position is based in San Jose at Santana Row and offers a base salary of $175,000–$275,000 plus significant equity, along with medical, dental, vision, housing, relocation, wellness, and compute benefits.
