Description

The Naval Architect will serve in the Engineering Department, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion, and Repair (SUPSHIP), supporting the design, construction, overhaul, and repair of nuclear-powered submarines. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing engineering documents, recommending corrective actions, consulting with contractors, representing the branch supervisor in technical conferences, advising engineers, and helping identify and mitigate design, construction, and program risks. The role requires U.S. citizenship, a professional engineering degree or equivalent engineering qualification, at least one year of specialized naval architecture or structural engineering experience, a Navy Basic Paint Inspector certification, and an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance. Travel to CONUS and OCONUS and to remote or isolated sites may be required.
