OpenAI is hiring a Networking Operating System Firmware Engineer to bootstrap and scale the switching layer of AI supercomputers. The role builds and maintains custom NOS images using SONiC, SAI, FRR, and related networking stacks; integrates Linux kernel, platform drivers, ASIC SDKs, control-plane services, and orchestration layers; brings up and debugs switch platforms; and supports fleet monitoring, diagnostics, telemetry, CI/CD, and factory qualification. The position is based in San Francisco, California, with a hybrid model requiring three days in the office per week and relocation assistance.
