Description
The Ophthalmic Assistant supports an Ophthalmologist or Optometrist by providing basic direct patient care, performing visual acuity, pupillary, diagnostic, and ocular testing, administering medications and irrigating solutions, obtaining medical histories, ordering tests, instructing patients on contact lenses, and maintaining exam rooms and supplies. The role reports to the Operations Manager, requires a high school diploma, CPR certification within 30 days of hire, and the ability to pass the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant examination within 18 months. It is performed in a medical clinic environment and requires HIPAA compliance.
