Description
The Ophthalmic Technician (Certified or Non-Certified) provides primary ophthalmic care and acts as a clinical assistant to physicians. Responsibilities include patient preparation, ophthalmic histories and preliminary examinations, vision screening, sub-specialty testing, administering eye medications, maintaining instruments and supplies, processing prescription refills, coding, counseling patients, and assisting with minor surgical and laser procedures. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; one year of ophthalmology experience and Certified Ophthalmic Technician certification are preferred.
