Ephemeris Net is hiring an Optical Engineer to own the design, build, test, and flight of coherent optical transceivers and free-space optical assemblies for space networking. The role covers optical signal chains, ray tracing, tolerancing, stray-light analysis, bench testing, and characterization of coherent detection and free-space performance, with support from electrical and mechanical teams. Candidates need a relevant bachelor’s degree, at least four years of hands-on experience with precision electro-optical instruments, optical instrumentation and RF test equipment proficiency, and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. The position offers hybrid work, equity, health care, and a 401(k) program, with compensation ranging from $150,000 to $250,000 depending on experience level.
