Coherent Corp. is hiring an Optical Design Staff Engineer to create optical and electro-optical system designs using Zemax and other optical design software, support customers and product development, manage custom projects, lead prototypes, and transfer products from prototype to production. The role also oversees optical design group operations, risk assessment, quality, documentation, training, and interfaces with manufacturing, QA, sales, and customers. Requirements include a science or engineering degree, postgraduate engineering or science degree, five years of product design and applications experience, strong physics and optical analysis skills, and familiarity with optical design programs; C or C++ programming and report writing are also mentioned.
