Description
The Optical Technician dispenses and fits glasses and contact lenses from prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists, while supporting patients’ medical needs and maximizing retail sales. The role includes selecting frames, operating lensometers, measuring eye dimensions, recommending lenses and coatings, dispensing orders, and repairing or adjusting frames. It requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of customer or patient interaction experience, Microsoft Office proficiency, and the ability to perform frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Previous medical or ophthalmic experience is preferred, and ABO and NCLE certifications are preferred but not required.
