WEPA is recruiting an apprentice Packaging Materials Technologist starting 1 August 2027. Over a three-year apprenticeship, the trainee will learn to produce cardboard packaging, films, and labels; design packaging models with modern 3D software; operate and monitor processing machinery; support quality control; and gain exposure to paper processing, mechanical engineering, and laboratory work. The program combines practical departmental training with 16 weeks of block instruction at the papermaker’s school in Altenburg. Applicants need at least a Hauptschulabschluss or higher qualification, an interest in technical processes and mathematics, manual skills, creativity, teamwork, care, and precision. The role offers monthly apprenticeship pay of EUR 1,204.42 to EUR 1,325.69 by year of training, 30 vacation days, 38 hours per week, wellbeing support, pension provision, digital learning resources, an iPad, and possible long-term employment with WEPA after successful completion.
