Description
The Paper Conservator will care for, preserve, and treat manuscripts, photographs, works of art on paper, and parchment in The Huntington’s Library and Art collections. The role performs complex conservation treatments, documents work, prepares materials for exhibits and loans, supports digitization, develops collection-level preservation strategies, maintains the conservation laboratory, and may train interns. A master’s degree in conservation, knowledge of paper-based materials and materials science, a portfolio demonstrating complex treatment ability, and evidence of professional activity are required; institutional paper conservation experience and exhibit or loan preparation experience are preferred. Compensation is $75,000–$85,000, with medical, dental, and vision benefits.
