Description

The Deputy Superintendent will serve as the second-in-command for Big Bend National Park and the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River, with shared oversight of Fort Davis National Historic Site and the Blackwell School National Historic Site. The role directs strategic goals, manages park operations and subordinate staff, oversees planning, public relations, administration, resource management, safety, interpretation, visitor services, and facilities maintenance, and builds partnerships with federal, state, local, tribal, nonprofit, and private-sector organizations. The position requires U.S. citizenship or nationality, a valid driver's license, uniform compliance, possible overnight travel, and availability for on-call, evening, weekend, holiday, overtime, and shift work. It is a GS-0025-14 supervisory role requiring at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13, with a possible one-year probationary period.
